With the Person-Centered Approach as his foundation of treatment, Eric’s initial focus is to create a strong rapport with his clientele. Eric believes that rapport is the first and foremost goal for any successful treatment, it is the seed to be planted. With rapport, there is trust in the therapeutic relationship which includes trust in between the therapist and client, and in the treatment. Without that trust, it can make treatment, even with the most successful approach difficult to make progress. It is important, to create the right environment in which rapport can be made and the client can grow. Along with his strong belief in the Person-Centered approach, Eric commonly finds most progress in CBT & Behavioral Approaches including Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy. With that being said, there is a strong evidence-based understanding how our irrational thoughts, emotions and behaviors influence one another which continues cycles of distress. In treatment, Eric utilizes different CBT exercises, exposures, and collaboration with his clients, and works with them where they are at in regard to comfort and trust. Eric has completed his masters in Mental Health Counseling with a focus on substance use. Eric believes that each client is different, and despite his approaches, he believes in the importance being diverse in his approach and will strive to work with each client based upon their needs and individual situation.
