Biography

Gloria Rivera is dedicated to fostering a healing environment that prioritizes the client’s needs and builds trust. She obtained her Master’s in Social Work from the Silberman School of Social Work at CUNY Hunter. Gloria has extensive experience from her roles at an outpatient addiction treatment program, the MGH Lurie Center for Autism, and an alternative high school for underserved youth. At the high school, she led the social and emotional learning (SEL) group, providing psycho-educational support to youth aged 14 to 21. Gloria believes in the profound connection between the mind and body in the healing process. Her approach is relational, person-centered, and mindfulness-based. She treats her clients with deep respect, acknowledging them as the authorities of their own lives. Gloria partners with her clients, empowering them to direct their healing journey. A strong advocate for social justice, Gloria integrates this perspective into her work, addressing the unique experiences that arise from the intersections of various identities. She is particularly focused on women’s mental health and the specific challenges women face. Gloria has experience working at home, in an office, via telehealth, in schools, and with a range of age groups. She strives to create a safe and comfortable environment for her clients, incorporating calming exercises, mindfulness practices, and a holistic approach to address past traumas and current challenges.
